Session Fee:

55 minute counseling session: $375

My practice is fee-for-service.

I don’t accept health insurance as a form of payment (but see below for important information about out-of-network benefits).

You’ll be responsible for your session fees at the time of our appointment. I accept cash, credit card, debit card, and HSA & FSA cards.

I’m an out-of-network provider.

Some insurance companies provide partial reimbursement for mental health services from out-of-network providers. This means your insurance provider may reimburse a percentage of your session fee after you submit a receipt (I will provide you with a monthly receipt, called a “superbill”).

This is a wonderful (and relatively easy) way of reducing your out-of-pocket expense and I encourage clients to consider contacting their insurance provider and inquiring about out-of-network reimbursement for mental health services.

These are steps to take when contacting your insurance provider:

1) Call the 1-800 number on the back of your insurance card.

2) Ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits. It’s important to ask:

  • Does my insurance reimburse me for psychotherapy services?

  • Do I have an out-of-network deductible?

  • How much will I be reimbursed?

Good Faith Estimate Notice

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including mental health counseling services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
